The days of the Galaxy Note Unpacked events are sadly over, but Samsung’s foldable devices are happy to fill a phablet-sized gap in the company’s annual release schedule. Over the past few years, the company has kept its promise to fully commit to the form factor, and we expect the latest additions to the Fold and Flip lines to arrive in a few weeks.
Samsung dropped an official invite to its late summer Unpacked event this morning, confirming the August 10 date for the virtual event. This is a Samsung event, so that means the big announcements have been partially or completely leaked in recent weeks. As expected, the big news revolves around the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, along with Galaxy Watch 5.
Both foldables are said to feature the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip, along with some new color options. The new Galaxy Watch represents Samsung’s latest Wear OS partnership. That one’s definitely worth keeping an eye on as Google begins a renewed push for the wearable OS ahead of the Pixel Watch’s launch in the fall.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s super early pre-show product reserve is going even earlier this year, with the following discounts if you want to buy the mystery products (jkjkjkjk) unseen:
$200 credit towards Galaxy phone, watch and earbud bundle
$150 credit towards Galaxy phone and viewing bundle
$130 credit direction Galaxy phone and button bundle
$80 credit direction Galaxy watch and earbuds bundle
$100 credit to be used on Samsung.com for eligible products when you pre-order a Galaxy phone
$50 credit to be used on Samsung.com for eligible products when you pre-order a Galaxy watch
$30 credit to be used on Samsung.com for eligible products when you pre-order Galaxy earbuds
All things considered, it should be an interesting event, and a nice jolt of news amid the late summer hardware madness. The event kicks off on August 10 at 9:00 AM ET/6AM PT. We are (almost) there.
